Open Membership Task Force Update

This spring, AAUW members will vote on whether to eliminate the long-standing degree requirement to join AAUW. Voting will open on April 3rd and will end on May 15th. All members should visit the National Election webpage and view the text of the 2024 Proposed Bylaws Changes.

You’ll find resources to use in your branch messaging in the Open Membership Toolkit on the AAUW website. The Toolkit includes Talking Points and a PowerPoint suitable for use in branch meetings.

The Open Up AAUW Network was formed by a group of AAUW members for the purpose of making AAUW’s focus on equity the basis of membership eligibility. This group is working closely with the AAUW Open Membership Task Force. You can find additional messaging resources from the Open Up AAUW Network such as newsletter suggestions, graphics, and a history of changes to AAUW’s membership requirements since 1881 at openupaauw.org.
