Virtual Lobby Corps
AAUW of Michigan Virtual Lobby Corps advances equity for women and girls through member activism and voter mobilization on key public policy issues.
AAUW of Michigan Virtual Lobby Corps is the front line of AAUW of Michigan’s Public Policy efforts.
The AAUW of Michigan Virtual Lobby Corps informs members about the latest federal and state government news relating to AAUW and AAUWMI Public Policy Priorities through monthly virtual meetings, AAUWMI Lobby Corps Facebook postings, and email communications. Virtual Lobby Corps members are provided opportunities to be active on issues of interest to them.
Formed in 2015, AAUW of Michigan Virtual Lobby Corps works with the leadership provided by the AAUW of Michigan’s Public Policy Director and Government Relations Coordinator on legislation concerning issues such as:
- Gender equity in education
- Individual and civil rights
- Voting rights
- Reproductive rights, and
- Economic security for women
AAUW members who live in Michigan and college/university students who study in Michigan are welcome to join AAUW of Michigan Virtual Lobby Corps. No experience or expertise is necessary – only a commitment to learning about and promoting AAUW’s public policy priorities. Lobby Corps members receive training on legislative processes as well as briefings on key issues that are likely to come before the state legislature and Congress.
