Economic Equity
Since the mid-1900’s, women’s labor force participation has seen remarkable growth. Women work longer hours than ever before and are pursuing higher education in substantial numbers. However, in spite of this progress, notable wage gaps between men and women persist—particularly for minority women. So what exactly is the gender wage gap? What drives it? And what does it mean for women and their families?
Read more about economic equity on the AAUW website.
AAUW DEI Toolkit
The AAUW Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) resources in the DEI Toolkit aim to identify best practices for promoting diversity, equity and inclusion within AAUW. These resources present guidelines for how AAUW branches, national members, student members and individual members can demonstrate an understanding of AAUW’s mission, values, goals and strategic plan. It is meant to start the inclusion conversation. We encourage all members to seek ways to incorporate inclusive practices into their branches and daily life.
5-Star Recognition
AAUW’s Five-Star National Recognition Program rewards affiliates (states, branches and other organizations) for aligning their work with the AAUW strategic plan and other initiatives that foster the organization’s mission of advancing gender equity for women and girls.
AAUW of Michigan is proud to announce that five (5) Michigan branches were recently awarded stars for their hard work in Communications and External Relations, Programs, Advancement, Governance and Sustainability, and Public Policy and Research that exemplifies the very best of AAUW.
