Pre-filled Codicils
For those who wish to donate but already have a Will, we have pre-made, fill-in-the-blank codicils available for each Michigan AAUW Branch or Affiliate for you to easily download. Pick the Branch or Affiliate you wish to donate to, and follow these steps:
- Print the codicil for the Branch or Affiliate to which you wish to donate. See list below.
- Look at your original Will to find its date, you will need this to complete the codicil.
- Find two people who can act as a witness. They should be people who are not related to you and will not inherit anything from you when you pass. These could be friends, neighbors, or fellow AAUW Branch or Affiliate members.
- Find a notary. Most banks have notaries and there is usually a $10 fee to use a notary’s services.
- In front of your witnesses and the notary, fill out and sign the document. The witnesses will sign in their indicated spots and the notary will notarize the document.
Leaving a legacy gift to your AAUW Branch is a wonderful way to ensure that your impact continues long after you’re gone. By including the AAUW in your estate planning, you’re ensuring AAUW’s continued mission of equity, economic security, and leadership for future generations.
