Norma Tims, Title IX Coordinator for the Michigan Department of Education. She is responsible for providing technical assitance to local educational agenices regarding implementation of the requirements of Title IX legislation, which prohibits discrimination based on sex. Norma as served as the equity coordinator--coordination programs services, and activities to eliminate gender bias and stereotyping in secondary career and technical education programs. Diane Madsen, an adjunct chemistry professor at Grand Valley State University, served as the past President of Communities for Equity (the organization which successfully sued the MHSAA for gender discrimination resulting in a restructuring of the state's athletic system) and currently as Vice President of the Michigan Gender Equity Team. Jennifer L. Martin, Ph.D., has worked in public education for 15 years, 13 of those as the department head of English at an alternative high school for at-risk students in the Detroit metropolitan area. She is also the author /editor of the two-volume series Women as Leaders in Education (Prager, in press). She has conducted research, published numerous peer reviewed articles and book chapters on bullying and harassment, peer sexual harassment, educational, mentoring issues of social justice, service-learning, and teaching at-risk students.
